Scientific IAQ & Psychrometric Dashboard

This interactive dashboard uses the same thermodynamic and psychrometric calculations built natively into DampApp Pro™, aligned with BS 5250 and HHSRS damp-and-mould assessment.

Environmental Controls

20.0°C

Optimal: 18.0 - 21.0°C to preserve structural health and occupant comfort.

65.0%

Critical threshold: RH values above 65.0% initiate rapid fungal spore germination.

8.0°C

Exterior ambient temperature dictates wall envelope cooling dynamics.

85.0%

Used to establish ambient Vapor Pressure and calculate absolute moisture excess.

12.0°C

The temperature of the cold thermal bridge. When surface temperature matches or falls below dew point, condensation forms instantly.

Atmospheric Profile Stable

With these inputs, surface moisture stays below the level at which mould typically germinates. Re-check on-site with calibrated equipment to confirm.

Professional psychrometrics on-site. Automatically.

DampApp Pro™ records readings from your handheld environmental meters. Log moisture levels, air temperature, relative humidity and thermal-bridging parameters natively offline, then review and export a RICS-aligned PDF report on the device.

Sensitivity Analysis Matrix

Calculates environmental safety bounds under fluctuating internal temperatures. This shows how shifting the internal temperature by up to 5°C will alter room RH and wall surface moisture profiles.

Frequently asked questions

What does this IAQ dashboard calculate?

From the internal and external temperature and relative humidity you set, plus a surface temperature, it derives vapour pressure excess, specific humidity (mixing ratio) and surface relative humidity, then scores temperature, humidity, vapour pressure excess and surface mould risk into an overall ambient health percentage. The sensitivity matrix projects how shifting the internal temperature by up to 5°C changes room and surface humidity.

What is vapour pressure excess and why does it matter?

Vapour pressure excess is the difference between the moisture in the indoor air and the outdoor air. A high excess indicates that internal moisture generation (cooking, washing, drying, occupancy) is outpacing ventilation, which raises surface relative humidity and condensation risk on cold surfaces.

Does this dashboard replace on-site measurement?

No. It models indoor air-quality and condensation risk from the values you enter and is intended for planning and explanation. It is not a substitute for calibrated thermo-hygrometers, surface probes or moisture meters, and the scores are indicative rather than a formal compliance determination. Verify readings on-site with your own equipment.

How does DampApp Pro use these psychrometric calculations?

DampApp Pro runs the same calculations on-device during a survey, recording temperature and humidity against each defect with capture-timestamped photos. You review and edit the findings before exporting a PDF on the device — helpful when distinguishing condensation from a structural defect under BS 5250, the HHSRS and Awaab's Law.
